Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo has appointed Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Pandjaitan as Ad Interim Transportation Minister, replacing Budi Karya Sumadi who is being treated for COVID-19. "The president has appointed Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Pandjaitan as Ad Interim Transportation Minister so that the ministry's functions are not disrupted," Minister of State Secretary Pratikno said at a press conference at the Office of the Ministry of State Secretariat, Jakarta, Saturday.

Regarding Pandjaitan’s appointment, earlier Friday, March 13, he did show up at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, in the early evening.

But he rushed into the palace to meet the President without divulging any information to the media.

Sumadi contracted COVID-19 and was classified as a Case No. 76. He is now being treated at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital.

Announcing Sumadi as one of those who tested positive for COVID-19 public, had been done after permission from his family.
