"The first key is to manage the flow of data and information, all must be recorded through mapping of clinical data and economic impacts. It must be clear as the way we handle this (COVID-19)," the Head of the Research and Development, Education and Training, and Information Agency (Balilatfo) Eko Sri Haryanto said at BNPB Building, Sunday.
Eko said that controlling the information will be related to maintaining the quality of life of the people, especially concerning health and economic.
The control of information by regional leaders is important so that people do not panic when receiving information circulating on the social media, especially related to COVID-19.
"Manage information, don't let the community become anxious about unclear information. Village heads, neighborhood units (RT) and community units (RW) heads must be able to explain it well. How is the transmission and the prevention of COVID-19, it must be explained to the community," Eko said.
In addition to controlling information, regional leaders are also required to have initiatives by forming independent mitigation related to social and economic activities.
With regard to the prevention of COVID-19 in villages and neighborhoods, the village heads and neighborhood units (RT) and community units (RW) heads were asked to collect data on their communities, including on who were still not working from home and on people who were forced to return home due to losing their jobs.
Thus, the regional government could prepare social security for the people affected economically and be able to provide appropriate assistance to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
