Jakarta (ANTARA) - Sixteen Indonesian musicians have collaborated on a song titled Menjaga Dunia (Safeguarding the World), dedicated to those battling the coronavirus pandemic in Indonesia and the rest of the world.

The song, composed and produced by Ade, has been released on several digital platforms on Monday. The song has also been made available on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdjfBl2G3I8), ANTARA learned.

The musicians who worked on the project are Rian "d'Masiv", Anji, Judika, Titi DJ, Lala Karmela, Vidi Aldiano, Pamungkas, Rizky Febian, Cita Citata, Ilham "HIVI!", Neida "HIVI!", Claudia Emmanuela, Ifan "Govinda", Ade "Govinda", Jeje "Govinda", and Dimas Joey.

While several songs on the theme of COVID-19 have been released, Menjaga Dunia is "softer" and enriched with nuances of love, said composer Ade.

The song sends a strong message on the necessity for maintaining social distancing for the sake of everyone’s safety and inculcating a fighting spirit for recovering from COVID-19.

The coronavirus pandemic, which initially struck the Chinese city of Wuhan at the end of 2019, has spread to various parts of Indonesia. Jakarta is the epicenter of the outbreak in the country.

As of Sunday, Indonesia has registered 2,273 confirmed cases, while the number of deaths in the country have mounted to 198. Meanwhile, 164 patients have been discharged from hospitals after doctors declared them fully recovered.

To deal with the threat of COVID-19, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has made it mandatory for all Indonesians to wear face masks in public to prevent transmission of the deadly virus.

To this end, the government must ensure the availability of face masks to meet the people's demand, he told cabinet members during a meeting held via videoconferencing on Monday at the Presidential Palace in Bogor, West Java.

In the early stage of the COVID-19 outbreak, WHO officials had suggested that those falling ill must wear face masks. However, the organization has now called on all people to wear masks while venturing outdoors, the President explained. (INE)
