Of the 132 people, 121 are closely associated with a state institution in Sukabumi City, while the rest are common peopleSukabumi, W Java (ANTARA) - As many as 132 of the 1,508 people who underwent a COVID-19 rapid test in West Java's Sukabumi City have tested positive for the coronavirus, Sukabumi Mayor Achmad Fahmi informed on Friday.
"Of the 132 people, 121 are closely associated with a state institution in Sukabumi City, while the rest are common people," he said during a press conference on the handling and control of COVID-19 in Sukabumi.
The suspected patients still have to undergo a swab test to confirm they have contracted an infection, he added.
Residents who have tested positive for the coronavirus in the rapid test must self-isolate and they will be monitored by health officers, the Mayor stated.
The local health authorities will soon conduct a swab test on each of the suspected patients to confirm the COVID-19 diagnosis, he continued.
The suspected patients have been asked not to interact directly with other people during self-isolation, and to wear masks and maintain safe distance from others, in accordance with the health protocol.
As it works to cut the chain of COVID-19 transmission in the city, the local government has asked residents of the city not to panic and to remain calm.
People have also been urged to restrict outdoor activities, wear masks when venturing outside their homes, and wash hands with soap.
