Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta's Office of Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy has suspended operations at 101 companies for violating large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).

The companies do not fall under the business sectors exempted from the Governor’s regulation (no. 33/2020) on the implementation of large-scale social restrictions in the capital city to curb COVID-19 transmission, the office said in a statement here on Tuesday.

Of the 101 companies that have been closed, 16 are located in Central Jakarta, 26 in West Jakarta, 19 in North Jakarta, 33 in South Jakarta, and 7 in East Jakarta.

In addition, the office has issued warnings to 119 businesses outside the exempted category, that are yet to obtain a permit from the Industry Ministry to operate, for not implementing the health protocol, set in coordination with the Health Ministry.

Meanwhile, 440 companies that are included in the 11 sectors exempted from the PSBB regulation have also been warned for not fully implementing the health protocol.

Earlier, head of the Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Office, Andri Yansah, had said the suspension of companies would be effective until the government lifted the PSBB implementation, scheduled for May 22.

Under Article 10 of the regulation, only 11 business sectors have been allowed to operate during the implementation of large-scale social restrictions.

The 11 sectors are healthcare products, food and beverage, energy, communication and information technology, finance, logistics, hotels, construction, strategic industry, basic services, public utility, and industries designated as national vital objects for providing daily needs.

Yansah also called on all companies, which have been barred from operating under the PSBB, to adhere to the regulation as coronavirus transmission has continued to raise concerns. (INE)
