Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has set aside Rp169.7 trillion for healthcare in the 2021 Draft State Budget, said President Joko Widodo while presenting the budget at the DPR-RI Plenary Meeting for 2020-2021 in Jakarta on Friday.



The President informed that the planned health budget of Rp169.7 trillion, which is equivalent to 6.2 percent of the State Budget, is primarily aimed at increasing and ensuring an equitable distribution of supply.



The budget will also focus on “support for the procurement of vaccines, improving nutrition for pregnant and lactating mothers, toddlers, handling infectious diseases”, he said.



The Head of State added that the allocation would also be used to accelerate efforts towards eliminating stunting among children, improve the effectiveness and sustainability of the national health insurance program, and strengthen disease prevention, detection and response, as well as an integrated health system.



On this occasion, the President said the implementation of fundamental reforms must be carried out, namely in education reform, health reform, social protection reform, and reforming the budgeting and taxation system.



Therefore, the government has said the theme for fiscal policy for 2021 is "Accelerating Economic Recovery and Strengthening Reforms".



The plenary session, which was held for the presentation of the 2021 Draft State Budget, was attended by 329 members of the House of Representatives (DPR). The session took place at the Plenary Building in the Parliament Complex, Jakarta.



While 98 members of the DPR attended the plenary session in person, 231 members participated in the session virtually (INE)
