Kemang, Bogor, W Java (ANTARA) - Eight paramotor pilots hoisted the Red and White flag at an altitude of 2,020 meters above the Atang Senjaya Airbase in Kemang, Bogor District, West Java, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indonesian independence, Monday.

"The event involved members of the Indonesian paramotor community that had undergone training. It was held today to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Indonesian independence," Secretary General of the Indonesian Aero Sport Federation (FASI) for Paramotors Air Commodore Basuki Rochmat stated on Monday.

Each of the paramotor pilots hoisted a Red and White flag measuring 17 meters in length. The flags were hoisted below the paramotors that flew around the airbase.

"They have security protocols in place. In the event of an emergency, they know how (to save themselves) since they had undergone training for the past three days," he stated.

Rochmat, concurrently chief of the Indonesian Air Force's Aviation Potential Development Center, pointed out that flying at an altitude of 2,020 meters was a novel achievement by the paramotor pilots. The hoisting of the flag is a new world record registered by the Indonesian Record Museum.

"The paramotor pilots will hold a similar event at an altitude of 2,020 meters next year to commemorate the 76th anniversary of Indonesia's independence," he stated.

Rochmat noted that several other paramotor pilots also partook in the event to add a touch of color to the skies above the Atang Senjaya Airbase.

Commander of the Atang Sanjaya Airbase Air Commodore Eding Sungkana, Chief of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service Air Commodore Fajar Adriyanto, and Assistant Deputy for Recreational Sport Management of the Youth and Sports Ministry Maifrizon also witnessed the hoisting of the Red and White flags at a 2,020-meter elevation.
