Over 10 thousand people annually attend the three-day event of the Apkasi Otonomi Expo. In the current scenario, it would be prudent to cancel the AOE2020 to support the government's efforts to curb the chain of transmission of COVID-19
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Association of Districts Governance in Indonesia (APKASI) canceled the exhibition to promote regional potential, scheduled in Jakarta at the end of 2020, to prevent further transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

"Over 10 thousand people annually attend the three-day event of the Apkasi Otonomi Expo. In the current scenario, it would be prudent to cancel the AOE2020 to support the government's efforts to curb the chain of transmission of COVID-19," APKASI's Secretary General, Najmul Akhyar, noted here on Wednesday.

Akhyar, concurrently the North Lombok district head, extended apologies over the cancelation of the annual event, while adding that APKASI was morally obligated to encourage people to work hand-in-hand for reviving the country's economy through holding the exhibition, among other endeavors.

The association has planned to hold AOE2021 on July 5-7, 2021, in Jakarta.

"We are optimistic that next year, the condition would improve, and we would be able to organize the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2021," he stated.

Akhyar called on district administrations to apportion budget for participation in the AOE2021.

"The AOE2021 will focus on thematic business-matching wherein participants can offer their potential products and investment," he stated.
