Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police deployed 192,168 personnel to secure the 2020 simultaneous regional elections (Pilkada) scheduled in September.

"A force of 192,168 personnel are involved in securing the stages of Pilkada in each region. It is entirely up to the Regional Office head to determine the number of personnel involved in accordance with the vulnerability in each region," Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Brigadier General (Pol) Awi Setiyono, stated at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit Office in Jakarta on Tuesday.

This is in reference to the Chief of Police's Telegram Letter on the plan to start Operation "Mantap Praja" 2020.

Setiyono elaborated on the deployment of security forces during the 2020 Pilkada: minimum assignment of one-third of the operating force for the registration stage, assignment stage, minimum assignment of one-third of the operating force while drawing the serial number and declaration, minimum assignment of one-half of the operating force during the campaign stage, and minimum assignment of one-fifth of the operating force during the quiet period.

Minimum assignment of two-third of the operational power for the voting stage, minimum assignment of one-sixth of the operating force for the vote counting stage, and minimum assignment of one-third of the operating force for the stage of determining the elected candidate.

At least one-sixth of the force will be deployed for the submission stage of PHPU, or dispute over general election results, while one-third of the operating force will be assigned for the inauguration stage.

National Police Chief, General Pol Idham Azis, had earlier issued a Telegram Letter from the National Police on the plan to start Operation "Mantap Praja" 2020 to ensure the success of the 2020 simultaneous regional elections.

Operation Mantap Praja 2020 was stipulated in Telegram Letter Number: STR / 387 / VI / OPS.1.3. / 2020, dated June 30, 2020, on the plan to simultaneously start Operation Mantap Praja 2020, dated September 3, 2020.
