Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) chaired a limited meeting here, Monday, to discuss issues pertaining to accelerating the absorption of salt produced by local salt farmers.

At the virtual meeting, held from the Merdeka Palace, President Jokowi highlighted the significance of downstreaming the country's salt industries by developing related industries.

To this end, the president called for making serious efforts to downstream salt industries, adding that improvements should be conducted from upstream to downstream supply chains.

The head of state further highlighted the significance of sufficient availability of land for salt farming as well as the necessity to expedite the integration and extensionalization of land for local farmers' salt-farming industries in several provinces.

President Jokowi called to fully comprehend the root causes of the problems pertaining to the absorption of the local farmers' salt produce for their timely resolution.
