“I affirm that the job creation law would not recentralize authority from regional governments to the central government, there is no such thing (planned),” he said at an online press conference originating from the Bogor Presidential Palace, W Java, on Friday evening.
The business licensing process and authority will remain with the regional governments, in accordance to the Norms, Standards, Procedures and Criteria (NPSK) determined by the central government, he added.
“In order to establish a good services standard in all regional governments, the establishment of the NPSK will be stipulated in the government regulations (PP),” he explained.
The President explained that as regional governments would continue to be the licensing authority for businesses, nothing would change under the new law.
“In fact, (all) we (have done is) simplify, standardize the types and procedures of businesses in the regions; and, licensing in certain regions has been given time limits. What is important here is that there is a service level of agreement, business licenses are considered approved once the time limit has passed (under the new law),” he said.
The job creation law would require the issuance of several government regulations (PP) and presidential regulations (Perpres), he informed.
The government regulations and presidential regulations would be put into force three months after they were promulgated and inputs would be gathered about them from the public and regional governments, he added. (INE)
