The government will prioritize vaccination for healthcare workers, the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI), Indonesian Police (Polri), other legal enforcement officers, and public services, totaling 3.4 million people, with a requirement for 6.9 million doses of the vaccine," he remarked after attending an online limited cabinet meeting held to discuss reports of the Committee.
A total of 6,995,474 doses of the vaccine will be required for 3,497,737 people constituting healthcare workers, military and police personnel, other legal enforcers, and public service officers; 11,248 doses of vaccine for 5,624,010 people comprising community and religious leaders, regional apparatus, and economic actors; and 8,722,394 doses of the vaccine for 4,361,197 people comprising teachers and lecturers.
Furthermore, as many as 4,611,734 doses of the vaccine will be required for 2,305,689 government officials and legislators; 173,245,734 doses of vaccines for 86,622,867 PBJS health insurance participants; and 115,097,000 doses for 57,548,500 other people in the age group of 19-59 years.
The total figure of people targeted to receive the vaccine reaches 160 million, and the number of vaccines provided reaches 320 million doses.
"In connection with the procurement of vaccines, the government has issued Presidential Decree No. 99 of 2020 on Vaccine Procurement. The government has made preparations for the procurement of vaccines, and currently, the minister of health and the minister of state enterprises (BUMN) are in the final stage of negotiations with Astra Zeneca, as we are preparing to procure 100 million doses. A down payment of 50 percent, or US$250 million (or around Rp3.7 trillion) is required," he stated.
"We have also reached a stage of finalization with several other suppliers or vaccine providers, such as Sinovac. We already have a detailed schedule for the procurement of 143 million doses, and this will all be accomplished in collaboration with Bio Farma, and from Sinopharm, this year, it is 15 million doses. Cansino promises us around 100 thousand doses at the end of December, and next year, it will be around 15 million doses. From Astra Zeneca, Bio Farma will make purchases early, especially the raw materials for the production," he explained.
It is estimated that Indonesia will obtain some 18 million doses in 2020 and about 125 million doses in 2021 from Sinovac.
"It is estimated that in December, it will obtain 15 million doses from Sinopharm and 50 million doses next year. Next year, it is planned to obtain 15 million doses from Cansino and 100 million doses from Astra Zeneca," he revealed.
In connection with Indonesia's indigenous vaccine, the Red and White vaccine, the research and technology minister, health minister, and finance minister are ensuring the availability of human resources, budget, and infrastructure to ensure the smooth development of the vaccine, as its production is targeted for mid-2021.
