Of all the 1,377 arrested people that underwent rapid tests, 47 found to be reactive were taken to Pademangan to conduct self-isolation.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - In rapid tests conducted by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police on 1,377 people arrested in rallies staged on Oct 13 against the job creation law in the capital city, 47 were found reactive to COVID-19.

"Of all the 1,377 arrested people that underwent rapid tests, 47 found to be reactive were taken to Pademangan to conduct self-isolation," Chief of the Public Relations Section of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Senior Commissioner Yusri Yunus stated here on Wednesday.

The police will also conduct swab tests on the 47 people currently self-isolating in Pademangan, North Jakarta, Yunus noted.

"Last night, we sent the 47 people found reactive to COVID-19 (to Pademangan). In accordance with health protocols, we must conduct swab tests on them. If they are found negative, they will be sent home, and if found positive, we will treat them," he explained.

Yusri stressed that the revelation of demonstrators found reactive to COVID-19 in rapid tests should be an eye-opener and a stark reminder for all to prioritize health protocols during congregations.

Yusri is optimistic that the rallies held to voice the demonstrators' aspirations would not give rise to new COVID-19 clusters.

"Do not let (the rallies) result in an outbreak. Lest (the demonstrators) become carriers of the disease to their homes or transmit it to fellow participants. Remember that the number of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta is high," he cautioned.

Yusri pointed out that almost 80 percent of the 1,377 people are students, while five of them are elementary school students.
