Basically, Indonesia is ready to host the meeting, and to this end, preparations have begun and will be intensified from day to dayJakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy voiced Indonesia's preparedness to host the 2022 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR), part of the UN forums, to discuss developments in disaster management in Bali.
"Basically, Indonesia is ready to host the meeting, and to this end, preparations have begun and will be intensified from day to day," Effendy stated during a press conference after a meeting with the head of state in Jakarta, Thursday.
The minister highlighted the government’s focus to identify requirements and obstacles to be brought to light in order to ensure that the forum, held biennially and attended by representatives of 193 countries, would run smoothly.
The minister revealed that during a limited meeting, the president had called to ensure that the momentum offered by the forum would be utilized as best as possible in the best interests of the nation, including to demonstrate, promote, and elucidate the practices followed by Indonesia in handling disaster-related issues, both natural and non-natural in nature.
"The president demanded the best preparations. Apart from this, we will also utilize this momentum as part of our efforts to facilitate economic recovery," he stated.
