Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained three new suspects in the graft case involving “fictitious projects” at state-owned aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) between 2007 and 2017.

The three suspects have been identified as PT DI's head of sales and marketing division from 2007-2014 and production director from 2014-2019, Arie Wibowo (AW); president director of PT Abadi Sentosa Perkasa, Didi Laksamana (DL); and, president director of PT Selaras Bangun Usaha, Ferry Santosa Subrata (FSS).

"For further investigation, after today's questioning of the three suspects, investigators will detain them on remand for the next 20 days, effective from November 3 to 22, 2020," deputy chief of KPK, Alexander Marwata, said here on Tuesday.

Wibowo will be detained at the East Jakarta Police prison, Laksamana at the Central Jakarta Police prison, and Subrata at the Jakarta Metro Police prison, he informed.

The graft case has led to the state incurring financial losses to the tune of Rp202 billion and US$8.65 million, which add up to about Rp315 billion.

Wibowo allegedly received Rp9.172 billion, while Laksamana received Rp10.805 billion and Subrata Rp1.951 billion as pay-off.

The three suspects have been charged under Article 2 and 3 of Law no. 31/1999 on Corruption Eradication, as amended by Law no. 20/2001 and Article 55 (1) of the Criminal Code.

Between 2008 and 2011, PT DI had entered into partnership contracts with several trading companies — PT Angkasa Mitra Karya, PT Bumiloka Tegar Perkasa, PT Abadi Sentosa Perkasa, PT Niaga Putra Bangsa, and PT Selaras Bangun Usaha.

However, none of the parties carried out the work stipulated in their contracts, leading to KPK claiming they were “entirely fictitious” projects.

After the six companies reportedly received the payment, a demand was allegedly made for a cash transfer of Rp96 billion to some officials of PT DI, including the company's then president director, Budi Santoso; head of sales division, Irzal Rinaldi Zailani; Arie Wibowo; and, director of trade and re-structurization, Budiman Saleh.

Earlier, KPK had named Budiman Saleh (BUS), president director of PT PAL Indonesia (Persero), a suspect in the case.

Budiman had served as director of aerostructure at PT DI from 2007 to 2010, director of aircraft integration from 2010 to 2012, and director of trade and re-structurization from 2012 to 2017.

The trial of two suspects — Budi Santoso and Irzal Rinaldi Zailani — is still on at the Bandung corruption court. (INE)
