The police stopped the truck at the Cikampek toll gate in Karawang District, West Java, on Saturday (Nov 7), West Java Police's Director of Drug Investigation Unit Senior Commissioner Rudy Ahmad Sudrajat stated here on Tuesday.
Sudrajat revealed that the drug was concealed in 10 Chinese tea bags and intended to be sent to Madura, East Java.
"Two suspects, identified by their initials as AHD and OM, were arrested. They had allegedly planned to carry the drug from Pekanbaru (Riau) to East Java," he stated.
The arrest was made after the West Java police received a tip-off on the drug syndicate.
Following a month-long investigation, the police detained a yellow truck at the Cikampek toll gate on November 7, he revealed.
The police suspected that the drug was smuggled from abroad to Pekanbaru, Riau.
Sudrajat noted that the suspects were promised Rp250 million each.
"Possibly, the drug will not be distributed in West Java. This has become the West Java Police's greatest disclosure in 2020," Sudrajat remarked.
The suspects will be charged with violating article 114 (2) and article 112 (2) of Law No. 35 of 2020 on drug and will face death penalty.
