The growth in the export volume was caused by an increase in exports to countries, such as China, Brazil, Malaysia, Russia, and Africa, Gapki executive director, Mukti Sardjono, said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
"Exports to China in September were 64,000 tons," he said, adding that Indonesia’s CPO exports to Brazil rose to 44 thousand tons, Malaysia 39 thousand tons, and Russia 37 thousand tons, he informed.
Although exports to most African countries saw a decline, he said, there was a sharp increase in exports to Kenya (61 thousand tons) and South Africa (33 thousand tons).
There was also a decline in exports to the European Union and Pakistan. Meanwhile, exports to India remained unchanged at 351 thousand tons.
In September, exports of CPO were recorded at 518 thousand tonnes (up 8 thousand tonnes), processed CPO at 1.76 million tonnes (up 47 thousand tonnes), lauric (PKO and PKO processing) 159 thousand tonnes (up 35 thousand tonnes), biodiesel 7 thousand tonnes, and oleochemicals 313 thousand tonnes (down 18 thousand tonnes).
Meanwhile, the export value of palm oil products and their derivatives in September reached US$1.87 billion, an increase of 10 percent compared to August, when the figure stood at US$1.69 billion.
On a year-on-year basis (yoy), as of September, the export value of palm oil products reached US$15.5 billion, an increase compared to 2019, when Indonesia exported palm oil products worth US$14.46 billion.
