Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Task Force for COVID-19 Response registered 3,807 fresh COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours on Tuesday, thereby taking the tally to 474,455 cases.

The country's recovery count touched 398,636, with 3,193 new recoveries in a day, the Task Force stated here on Tuesday.

A total of 97 COVID-19 patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the death toll to 15,393 since the country announced its first confirmed cases in early March this year.

Currently, 60,426 people with active infection of COVID-19 were yet receiving medical treatment or undergoing isolation, while 64,928 people were categorized as suspects.

The authorities examined 39,772 specimens from 36,556 people in 426 laboratories across Indonesia within the last 24 hours. In total, 5,129,899 specimens were examined from 3,377,716 people since March 2020.

COVID-10 cases were reported in 505 districts and cities throughout the country.

Provinces recording the highest number of fresh cases were Jakarta, with 1,037 fresh cases; followed by Central Java, with 652 cases; West Java, with 648 new cases; Riau, with 268 new cases; and East Java, with 206 new cases.

The highest number of cases continue to be recorded in Jakarta, with the tally reaching 120,670, while the total number of recoveries stood at 111,003, and the death toll at 2,456.
