Digital governance is a solution and necessity to optimize public service.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin believes digital governance would be the solution for optimization of public services.
Intensive and massive utilization of information technology is necessary to materialize bureaucratic reform in Indonesia, Amin emphasized here on Thursday at the opening of the national coordination meeting of civil service organized virtually by the National Civil Service Agency (BKN).
"Digital governance is a solution and necessity to optimize public service," he remarked.
The vice president stated that the COVID-19 pandemic should be utilized as a momentum to accelerate bureaucracy reform through the implementation of the new normal wherein most activities would be conducted online.
However, civil servants (ASN) should boost their productivity despite the pandemic, as national development programs would continue to run.
"ASN, as the driving force of the government, should maintain their productivity. Various strategies and innovations must be developed to respond to the public demand," he noted.
An evaluation of all working program and routine activities would be necessary to review their urgency, relevance, and the impact to the quality of public services.
"Refocusing all activities toward strategic goals and target of institutions that support the national perspective and mission," he elaborated.
Meanwhile, BKN's head, Bima Haria Wibisana, stated that the coordination meeting was aimed at maintaining the sustainability of the strategic program to digitize the civil service system and materialize the national One Data for ASN as a basis in public service and decision-making process in human resources.
