Jakarta (ANTARA) - Pertamedika Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC) inked an operational collaboration with the University of Indonesia (UI) Hospital for establishment of the third phase of a hospital holding company that would gather state-owned enterprises (BUMN) hospitals.

In an official statement received in Jakarta on Friday, President Director of Pertamedika IHC, Fathema Djan Rachmat, was upbeat about the synergy of BUMN hospitals becoming a novel breakthrough for the health care industry in Indonesia.

"This joint collaboration is Pertamedika IHC's main strategy to offer quality care and efficiency for a better health industry, so that the same best health service standards across the network can be realized. We can contribute to building national health resilience for competing globally," she affirmed.

The cooperation agreement with the UI Hospital is a follow-up to the main cooperation signed between PT Pertamina Bina Medika IHC and UI on June 23, 2020.

This agreement confirms the commitment of Pertamedika IHC and the UI to work unitedly in the management of the UI Hospital, which is a teaching hospital owned by UI.

As a step to form the BUMN Hospital Holding, phase 1 was conducted at the end of March 2020, marked by the acquisition of PT Pelni Hospital by PT Pertamedika IHC.

The phase 2 was held on August 7, 2020, wherein seven hospitals joined to become part of PT Pertamedika IHC, and the consolidation was conducted on 35 hospitals and 4,325 beds.

In Phase 3, Pertamedika IHC collaborates with 34 other state-owned hospitals managed by 18 BUMN hospitals.

BUMN Minister Erick Thohir conveyed that formation of the BUMN Hospital Holding is expected to become a driving force in providing convenience to serve the community while concomitantly intensifying the role to maintain national health resilience that can be realized through four strategic objectives.

"The four strategic objectives are the provision of quality health services, network and scale enhancement, capability development and innovation, and integration and collaboration of the national health ecosystem," the minister affirmed.
