Single-day recoveries showed a decline compared to the day before when they were registered at 5,981.
With 7,199 fresh cases reported in 24 hours, Indonesia’s tally of coronavirus infections since the government announced the first two cases on March 2, 2020 reached 692,838.
The number of fresh cases was the second highest in five days. The number of new infections had hit a record 7,514 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the number of patients dying of the virus rose by 181 to 20,589.
The number of deaths in the 24 hours ending Thursday was also the second highest in five days. A total of 221 people died of the infection on Sunday.
Jakarta reported the highest number of confirmed cases at 164,577, followed by East Java (76,111), West Java (74,664), and Central Java (72,528).
Meanwhile, the provinces that witnessed the lowest transmission rate were East Nusa Tenggara (1,821), Bangka Belitung Islands (1,718), and West Sulawesi (1,717). (INE)
