Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin expressed his condolences over the demise of Islamic scholar Syekh Ali Jaber on Thursday, recalling the good nature and teachings of the 44-year-old preacher.

"I am sorry for the death of Syekh Ali Jaber, a charismatic cleric whose preaching is cool and calming. The reach of his preaching is very wide and always motivates people to continue to unite in devotion to Allah SWT," Amin said here on Thursday.

The Vice President also condoled the deaths of all Islamic scholars and preachers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Hopefully, the late Sheikh Ali Jaber and all ulemas and kyai (Islamic scholars) are accepted by Allah SWT in a husnul khotimah (good ending) state," he added.

The Vice President advised all scholars and Muslims to continue the struggle and da'wah (preaching) of Sheikh Ali Jaber, who spread the word of peace.

"Let us continue his preaching by bringing soothing and calming teachings," he said.

Sheikh Ali Jaber died at 8:30 a.m. local time on Thursday morning. The cleric, who was born in Medina, February 3, 1976, was scheduled to be buried in the Daarul Quran Cipondoh Islamic Boarding School complex, Tangerang, on Thursday afternoon. (INE)
