Mr. President is targeting to achieve herd immunity one year after 70 percent of the population has been vaccinated
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia has prepared three thousand hospitals for COVID-19 immunization, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said here on Thursday.

"To conduct the vaccination we have three thousand hospitals," he said during a virtual press briefing on the 3T program, Plasma Donor Movement, Digital MSMEs and Aid and Solidarity, held at the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) building.

The government will also prepare three thousand vaccinators across the country to speed up the COVID-19 vaccination program. "So, if (one vaccinator) is able to vaccinate an average of 30 people per day, 1 million people can be vaccinated per day," Minister Hartarto estimated.

The vaccination campaign must be coupled with the availability of vaccines, he remarked. The COVID-19 vaccination program is aimed at building herd immunity, which is expected to be achieved one year after 70 percent of the Indonesian population has been vaccinated, he added.

"Mr. President is targeting to achieve herd immunity one year after 70 percent of the population has been vaccinated," he said.

The minister had said earlier that the government is drafting a regulation on industries or companies self-financing COVID-19 vaccines for their employees.

The regulation will deal with certain industrial sectors on self-financing COVID-19 vaccinations, including technical matters such as vaccine sources.

“(The vaccination) will be given to employees free of charge," Hartarto said.
