Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia added 8,054 COVID-19 cases on Saturday (February 20, 2021), which took the country’s total case tally to 1,271,353, according to data provided by the Task Force for COVID-19 Response.

As of 12 p.m. WIB (Western Indonesia Time) on Saturday, the number of active cases, or patients under treatment for COVID-19, stood at 158,197.

With the addition of 9,835 recoveries, the number of people recovering from the infection increased to 1,078,840. Meanwhile, the number of deaths rose by 164 to reach 34,316.

Jakarta still reported the highest number of new cases at 2,872, followed by West Java (975), Central Java (805), East Java (601), and East Kalimantan (552).

The capital city also led in the number of new recoveries which were recorded at 2,886, followed by West Java (1,528), East Kalimantan (811), East Java (589), and Bali (469).

With 40 deaths, Jakarta also led in terms of the daily COVID-19 mortality rate, followed by East Java (36), Central Java and East Kalimantan (18 each), Bali (7), South Sulawesi and Riau (6 each), and West Java (5).

Meanwhile, the provinces of Aceh and Gorontalo reported less than 10 new cases. There was not a single province that did not record new cases on Saturday.

The data from the task force also showed that the number of suspected COVID-19 cases reached 79,395 as of Saturday.

Meanwhile, the number of specimens examined as of Saturday stood at 69,479, taking the total count to 10,347,147.
