We'd better close the offices temporarily since the number of COVID-19 cases continue to increase and can endanger (the lives of other people).Lebak, Banten (ANTARA) - The Lebak District Head's Office in Banten Province was shut down for a four-day period until Thursday (Feb 25) after 25 of its employees tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
"The closure is aimed at containing the transmission of COVID-19," Secretary of the Lebak District Head's Office, Dede Jaelani, stated on Monday.
Jaelani noted that other employees of the district head's office were subject to swab tests for detecting the spread of COVID-19.
Furthermore, the local authorities have sprayed disinfectant in the premises of the district head's office in addition to 10 offices within the district secretariat.
"We'd better close the offices temporarily since the number of COVID-19 cases continue to increase and can endanger (the lives of other people),” he remarked.
Head of the Lebak District Health Office Triatno Supiono confirmed that 2,117 residents in Lebak had contracted COVID-19, with 1,243 of them having made a recovery, while 41 others succumbed to the disease.
Supiono noted that 623 people are undergoing self-isolation and are receiving treatment at hospitals.
"We appeal to residents to follow health protocols by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission," he stated.
