Pamekasan, E Java (ANTARA) - Five students died after a cliff collapsed onto the An-Nidhomiyah Islamic boarding school in Pamekasan, East Java, on early Wednesday.

One student sustained a bone fracture, while one student survived, coordinator of the Quick Reaction Team of the Pamekasan District Natural Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBD) Budi Cahyono revealed.

The seven-meter-high cliff collapsed onto the two female bedrooms of the Islamic boarding school following heavy rains.

"(The bodies of) three students were retrieved shortly after the incident, while those of the two other students were retrieved this morning at 7:00 WIB," he stated.
