Jakarta (ANTARA) - Local computer producer Zyrex has said it is working with a design and manufacturing service company from Taiwan, Pegatron, to create high-quality laptops to support the digitalization of schools and the Made in Indonesia movement.

"As a true local brand, we are excited and proud to be able to participate in the digitalization program for schools and the #BanggaBuatanIndonesia (Indonesian Made Pride) campaign," Zyrex CEO Timothy Siddik said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Zyrex is cooperating with Taiwan’s Pegatron Corporation to improve the quality of local products and ensure higher competitiveness, he informed.

Pegatron is expected to provide support in terms of design, manufacture, and technical services for producing high-quality laptops, he added.

"We hope (through) the cooperation (we) can become the main provider in laptop distribution in the digitalization of schools," Siddik remarked.

He said he has also registered to become local principal at the National Public Procurement Agency as a provider of computer products, laptops, and other information technology products.

Currently, the company has the largest number of sales and after-sales service points, reaching over 440 locations throughout Indonesia, he disclosed.

CTO and senior VP of Pegatron, Steve Huang, said his company is ready to provide technical support to the local company to help it become more competitive.

"Our engineers and technicians will provide full technical support and work together to work on the very large ICT market in Indonesia," Huang added. (INE)
