The test results show that out of tens of tested healthcare workers, 16 people were infected with COVID-19Cianjur, W Java (ANTARA) - Some 16 healthcare workers at the Cibinong community health center, Cianjur, West Java, were exposed to COVID-19, thereby resulting in the temporary closure of the medical facility.
The infections were discovered after two healthcare workers at the center had complained of loss of smell. Hence, PCR tests were conducted on every healthcare worker there, Dr. Rahardian, head of the Cibinong community health center, stated here on Friday.
"The test results show that out of tens of tested healthcare workers, 16 people were infected with COVID-19. Hence, they are immediately self-isolated. For the time being, all services are halted, barring emergency services," he revealed.
Tracing and swab tests were also conducted on their relatives and acquaintances, but the results came negative, he stated.
Meanwhile, at a press conference in Jakarta, on June 8, 2021, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin reported that over 300 healthcare workers in Kudus, Central java, were infected with COVID-19.
As of June 4, 2021, a total of 358 healthcare workers, who have mostly been administered the vaccine against COVID-19, were infected with the virus.
Owing to the vaccination, they were in good health despite being exposed to COVID-19, the minister stated.
“One of the infected healthcare workers is a 70-year-old specialist. Alhamdulillah (Thank Allah), his condition is good," Sadikin stated.
The ministry has deployed several nurses and doctors to support the COVID-19 handling efforts in Kudus that registered a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
