"I am optimistic that all regions can re-manufacture and increase their vaccinations, so that the speed of inoculation in the financial services sector would immediately help the attainment of herd immunity at least by August," President Jokowi remarked during a review of mass vaccinations conducted for financial services sector players at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
The president made the statement after holding a dialog with financial services industry players scheduled for COVID-19 vaccination in various regions.
Some 10 thousand players in the financial services industry will be vaccinated this Wednesday in Jakarta.
President Jokowi is upbeat about the speed of COVID-19 vaccination also being stepped up in other sectors apart from the financial services industry.
“We hope that this pace of vaccination would also be replicated in other sectors. Thus, we can stop COVID-19 in its tracks as soon as possible," he emphasized.
The head of state has additionally outlined a target for one million vaccine doses to be administered on a daily basis in early July 2021.
The target was increased from the 500 thousand doses per day earlier.
"With this acceleration, we hope to be able to reduce the spread of COVID-19," he stated.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority Wimboh Santoso, and President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange Inarno Djajadi accompanied the president during the visit.
As of Tuesday (June 15), data from the COVID-19 Task Force showed that the government had administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to 20.9 million people and the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine to 11.6 million people.
The Health Ministry has urged people to not be “picky” about the COVID-19 vaccines offered by the government, while drawing attention to the World Health Organization (WHO) declaration that all currently authorized and recommended vaccines are safe.
"Hence, there is no reason for the public to hesitate to participate in the vaccination program," Siti Nadia Tarmizi, the ministry’s spokesperson, had earlier stated here on Tuesday.
To vaccinate the targeted 181 million recipients under the national program, the government will require some 426 million vaccine doses, according to Tarmizi.
The spokesperson pointed out that the huge requirement for vaccine doses cannot be met by merely one vaccine manufacturer. In fact, fierce competition has erupted among nations worldwide to obtain vaccine supplies for their populations, she added.
