Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) drew attention to the criticality of synergy among various elements within the country, including between the Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police (Polri) personnel, amid increasingly stiff global competition.

Jokowi delivered the statement to TNI and Polri graduates that had earlier received education at the TNI Academy and Police Academy during the Prasetya Perwira (PRASPA) oath-taking ceremony held in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.

"In an increasingly fierce global competition, the very central strengths of the nation are unity and integrity. It is impossible for us to win the global competition, if there is no strong synergy in the country," the head of state remarked.

The Prasetya Perwira oath-taking ceremony of TNI and Polri officers in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace was held with adherence to stringent health protocols.

Each of the best graduates from every dimension of the TNI and Polri partook in the inauguration ceremony at the Merdeka Palace.

The ceremony was also attended by appointed officers virtually from the Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and Police Academy.

President Jokowi highlighted that Indonesia's social and cultural diversity must serve as a source of strength and inspiration for the nation.

All components of the nation must unite to build a strong and robust Indonesia and be able to compete in global competition.

"Hence, I advise that government organizations must synergize and support each other. The TNI and Polri as well as other components of the nation must synergize with each other for the good and progress of the nation," he stated.

Jokowi reminded the ranks of the TNI and Polri to work hand-in-hand in conducting increasingly difficult tasks, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The TNI and Polri are the foremost state tools in maintaining the defense and security of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Hence, the TNI and Polri must continue to synergize, coordinate, and work together for the benefit of the nation," he affirmed.

In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, the head of state called to strengthen the concern and mutual cooperation of all elements of the nation.

This difficult time of crisis must also drive us all to improve the way of working and expedite the development of technology and industry in the country.

"I advise the brothers and sisters to participate in tackling this crisis and learn from this crisis to partake in strengthening togetherness based on the five principles of Pancasila," President Jokowi affirmed.

During the ceremony, Jokowi was also accompanied by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, and other relevant officials.
