The step was taken on account of the daily confirmed cases in Tangerang City standing at 667 on July 20, 2021, Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah stated on Wednesday (July 21).
"This means there is still an increase each day, although the bed occupancy rate (BOR) at hospitals had decreased, from 93 percent to 85.83 percent," he pointed out.
The mayor noted that the BOR at hospitals had dropped since several patients were indicated as asymptomatic, so they had opted to undergo self-isolation at home. The Tangerang government also offers medicines from a public health center and delivers meal packages for those undergoing self-isolation at home, according to Wismansyah.
Apart from conducting 3T, the Tangerang administration also held mass vaccination to achieve herd immunity in the city.

Since June 21 until now, the city government was able to deliver an average of 13 thousand doses per day, including vaccinations for children in the age bracket of 12 to 17 years.
Apart from expediting vaccination and intensifying 3T, it followed the central government's regulation by applying level 4 of PPKM on July 21-25.
"We held a coordination meeting with related stakeholders in reviewing the Minister of Home Affair's instruction on extending the emergency PPKM that changed to Level 4 PPKM," Wismansyah noted.
The mayor stated that the regulation of Level 4 PPKM remained the same as the earlier emergency PPKM. There will be a gradual relaxation in the form of public spaces being opened if the city recorded a significant drop in the number of COVID-19 cases, he added.
