We (West Java provincial government) hope other corporations would also join this initiative in order to pull through this pandemic hand-in-hand.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Maritime and Investment Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan lauded the initiative of private parties to facilitate vaccinations for digital micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) actors and supporters.

Pandjaitan noted that convenient access to vaccination for online MSMEs owners, customers, and logistics couriers was vital to maintain this critical economic sector, especially the couriers, as they actively assisted people to obtain necessities amid the enforcement of Emergency Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

“Accelerating vaccination programs and conducting strict health protocols are solutions to creating herd immunity. We (the government) fully support this Vaccination for Digital Economy Heroes Program,” the minister said in a press statement that ANTARA received here Thursday.

The government collaborated with Lazada Indonesia and Good Doctor Indonesia to hold this program simultaneously in West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, and Bali on July 12-27, 2021.

The primary site of this vaccination program was the Lazada main warehouse in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java. The vaccination drive was also supported by the Health Ministry, Cooperative and MSMEs Ministry, Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, Communication and Informatics Ministry, West Java provincial government, as well as Depok city government.

“We (the West Java provincial government) are optimistic that other corporations would also join this initiative in order to pull through this pandemic hand-in-hand,” West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil affirmed.

According to the Health Ministry’s data, only 5,079,864 people against the targeted 37,907,814 people had been administered the first vaccine doses, while merely 2,297,494 people had taken the second dose in West Java.

The ministry also recorded that as of July 21, 2021, at 12:00 Western Indonesia Time, a total of 42,611,602 people, or just 20.46 percent out of the 208,265,720 individuals, had received the first doses of COVID-19 vaccines nationally.

Meanwhile, the second doses were administered to 16,606,675 people, or only 7.97 percent of the total target.
