We must end this (pandemic)Jakarta (ANTARA) - Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan reminded Jakarta residents that the COVID-19 pandemic has not yet ended, although active and positive cases have begun to decline.
Baswedan observed that cases have declined because of the accelerated pace of vaccinations and mobility control due to the public activities restrictions (PPKM).
"It is still not over yet and we should not lose our focus and be loose with (the health protocols). We must end this (pandemic)," the governor stressed here on Tuesday.
He called on all parts of society to continue following health protocols to maintain the momentum of declining cases.
The governor added that there were more than 29,000 people in Jakarta who underwent self-isolation, about 8,600 people were hospitalized, with 1,400 people being treated in intensive care units (ICU).

Also, he continued, there were 3,900 people who were placed in isolation at Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital.
"We must continue to resolve the pandemic, but the collective work of all people in reducing mobility over the last few weeks shows positive signs in controlling the outbreak," he pointed out.
Baswedan also explained that Jakarta is now starting to rise from the COVID-19 crisis.
The indicator, he continued, treated active cases, as people being care for in isolation decreased to 64,000 cases on Sunday, July 25, 2021, after previously reaching 113,000 active cases on July 16, 2021.
Other parameters, such as the positive rate, also showed a decline in cases. The rate previously was in the range of 45 percent, but is now 25 percent.

In addition, funerals with fixed COVID-19 procedures, which had reached more than 350 a day, are now below 200 per day.
A number of hospitals in Jakarta, he said, are returning to normal after being overwhelmed by the enormous load of patients, both those who were hospitalized in emergency units and in ICUs.
As of July 26, 2021, based on data from the Provincial Government of Jakarta, the number of active cases until 10:00 a.m.,decreased by 12,107 cases, with the number of recovered cases increasing by 14,666 people.
Meanwhile, the death rate reached 103 people, and 2,662 positive cases were reported.
The percentage of deaths in Jakarta reached 1.4 percent, while the recovery rate was 92 percent.
