We expect that this forum can give advice in drafting Jakarta's transportation policy.Jakarta (ANTARA) - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan opened '3 Pillars of Integration Forum Group Discussion (FGD)', themed 'The Future of Jakarta Transportation', in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The governor said he expected the forum to generate inputs related to transportation management in the capital.
The 1.5 years of the pandemic have offered a new experience to Jakarta authorities in managing public transportation that reaches all regions and is affordable and environmentally friendly, Baswedan said.
"My hope is that more inputs can be brought up about transportation management. I hope this FGD can help to map, identify, and anticipate transportation problems in Jakarta," he added.
In addition, the FGD is also expected to offer fresh viewpoints on drafting transportation policies in Jakarta, including the integration of payment systems, he said.
"We expect that this forum can give advice in drafting Jakarta's transportation policy," he added.
Based on the inputs, DKI Jakarta will begin the integration of payment systems with public transportation, he disclosed. The public will get a facility that provides convenience, security, comfort, speed, and affordable tariffs through intermodal passenger transport, he said.

Seamless transactions will benefit the operator companies by increasing the number of passengers and boosting business processes as well as make asset management more effective and efficient, Baswedan noted.
For the government, the integration will result in right-targeted tariff policies, reduce long-term subsidies, curb traffic jams, and help improve Jakarta's air quality, the governor said.
However, most importantly, the city of Jakarta will get an integrated public transport system, he remarked.
The integrated payment system will be established in the second phase, in March, 2022, through the application of Mobility as a Service (MaaS), he informed. The service will provide travel recommendations and estimates for public transportation users through the JakLingko App, he said.
The JakLingko application will expand its integration with other transportation modes, such as online motorcycle taxis, online taxis, tourist spots, and culinary attractions, with interesting and functioning discounts, the governor said.
Jakarta will use London, Seoul, and Hong Kong as benchmarks in integrating transportation modes and systems, he added. With that, the city has the potential to become a developed city in terms of an advanced public transport system, he remarked.
