Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - With 66 more patients recovering from COVID-19 in Palangka Raya, the total recoveries in the Central Kalimantan capital have reached 7,757, Mayor Fairid Naparin has informed.

"The data is based on the COVID-19 task force report yesterday (July 30, 2021). Although the recovery rate is quite high, health protocols must still be strictly applied," Naparin said in Palangka Raya on Saturday.

The Palangka Raya task force has recorded 74 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total tally to 9,514, he said.

Furthermore, data has shown that 1,406, or 14.78 percent, of the infected people in 'Kota Cantik' are still undergoing treatment, he added.

Meanwhile, with 12 new fatalities, the death toll in the provincial capital has reached 351, he informed.

The data was collected from all areas of Palangka Raya City, which covers 30 urban villages within five sub-districts, Naparin said.

The detection of new COVID-19 cases also points to the commitment of the health team in tracing the close contacts of positive patients, he added.

He said the Palangka Raya city government is continuing to make efforts through the task force team to stem the spread of COVID-19, such as raising awareness on COVID-19, early detection, security, and case handling.

The Palangka Raya city government has also urged residents to adhere to the COVID-19 health protocols to help halt the continued spread of COVID-19, he added.

It has invited residents, especially the elderly, to participate in the COVID-19 vaccine program, so that the vaccination target set by the government can be met, the mayor said.
