Pontianak (ANTARA) - Indonesia's State Intelligence Agency (BIN), in collaboration with the Health Office and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), launched vaccinations for one thousand residents in Pontianak City, West Kalimantan on Wednesday.

Secretary of the West Kalimantan Health Office, Abusammah, on Wednesday lauded the BIN and the West Kalimantan Chamber of Commerce and Industry for contributing to the vaccination program.

"We hope that this collaboration will continue to help in accelerating the nation's vaccination program to expedite herd immunity, like what President Joko Widodo has instructed," Abusammah said.

Chairman of the West Kalimantan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Joni Isnaini, expressed his appreciation of the collaboration and said he hoped the vaccination program would be able to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission, especially in West Kalimantan.

"Today, the West Kalimantan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with BIN and the West Kalimantan Health Office, administered vaccinations for 500 West Kalimantan residents. Tomorrow, we will administer vaccinations for 500 residents again," he informed.

Head of operations at BIN, Dodi, said the collaboration would continue to be carried out so that herd immunity can be achieved quickly.

"Today's vaccination has been carried out successfully. West Kalimantan residents are very enthusiastic (about the vaccination). This is a sign that West Kalimantan residents are very aware of the dangers of COVID-19 and the importance of vaccination," he said.

To reduce COVID-19 transmission and build herd immunity, the Indonesian government has been conducting a nationwide vaccination program since January 13, 2021.
