“Firstly, since the organizer is NU, so the vaccination is mainly addressed to NU communities. The rest are for local communities and the general public. Non-Muslim communities may also participate,” West Jakarta NU’s vice treasurer, Lukmanul Hakim, stated here on Thursday.
The vaccination drive at the mosque is being organized twice, on July 8, 2021, and August 5, 2021, according to Hakim.
As many as 1,300 residents were vaccinated on the first day. Meanwhile, the organizers have targeted 1,300 residents to partake in receiving the second dose of vaccination today, Hakim confirmed.
“The second dose of vaccination today follows the previous one in which 1,300 residents were vaccinated. Meanwhile, we are opening for 300 participants today to receive the first vaccine,” he expounded.
Hakim is optimistic that the residents would partake in the mass vaccination program today in a bid to stem the transmission of COVID-19.
“The residents can register on the spot or via online platform. Any Indonesian citizen can get vaccinated here,” he stated.
As earlier reported, several worship houses became the venues for holding the vaccination drive by the West Jakarta city administration.
As many as 11 houses of worship became the venues for COVID-19 vaccination, according to West Jakarta Mayor Uus Kuswanto.
“Mosques and churches are utilized as vaccination venues,” Kuswanto noted.
Those 11 houses of worship comprise the Santa Maria Immakulata church in Kalideres, Santo Thomas Rasul in Bojong Indah, Maria Kusuma Karmel church in Meruya, and Santo Andreas church in Kedoya.
Meanwhile, seven mosques where the vaccination drive was conducted comprised Al Mubarokah Mosque in Tambora, Al Falah Mosque in Pal Merah, Baitus Salam Mosque in Taman Sari, Tama Cahaya Mosque in Kebon Jeruk, Al Mukhlisin Grand Mosque in Grogol Petamburan, Al Istiqomah Mosque, and Al Hasni Mosque in Cengkareng.
Some worship houses have become the venue for holding the vaccination drive, and the rest too will serve the same purpose in early August.
The West Jakarta city administration has worked alongside religious figures for the mass vaccination program to encourage the public to get vaccinated.
