This Door-to-Door Mandatory Mask Program is part of the government's efforts to strengthen COVID-19 handling from both the upstream and downstream sectorsJakarta (ANTARA) - The Presidential Staff Office reminded North Jakarta's residents of the importance of wearing masks through the "Door-to-Door Mandatory Mask” Program under which they distributed thousands of masks to people.
The handing out of free masks was conducted through collaboration among the government, private parties, and the public to enforce 5M health protocols, including wearing masks.
"This Door-to-Door Mandatory Mask Program is part of the government's efforts to strengthen COVID-19 handling from both the upstream and downstream sectors," Deputy IV of KSP Juri Ardiantoro said in a statement obtained here on Friday.
The giveaway of free masks was hosted at the Sunsugos Theology Academy, South Jakarta. Ardiantoro reminded the public to always apply 5M protocols and cooperate with the government by partaking in vaccination programs.
"The Presidential Staff Office facilitates every element keen on contributing in the collaboration to handle COVID-19. Akin to today, it was the work of the Presidential Staff Office, national volunteers, and organizations to lay emphasis on the discipline to wear masks," the KSP's Deputy, tasked to manage public relations and political communication, pointed out.
Ardiantoro highlighted the Presidential Staff Office's intent to assist the public during the pandemic in the form of handing out free masks.
"This is not the first time that the Presidential Staff Office has offered direct aid to the public ever since the pandemic struck. We are grateful that the people trust our aid," he stressed.
The door-to-door mask distribution method, formulated by the Presidential Staff Office, was expected to prevent residents from stepping out of their homes as well as reducing possible crowding.
The Door-to-Door Mandatory Mask Program also targets the public in the Bantar Gebang and Setu sub-districts, Bekasi District, West Java.
Head of the Presidential Staff Office Moeldoko had initiated a similar program last July in Kebon Kosong, Central Jakarta.
Ardianto revealed that the Presidential Staff Office would continuously enforce the mask-wearing policy by giving away 500 thousand free medical masks to 20 cities in Java Island.
Apart from medical masks, the Presidential Staff Office also allocated medical equipment comprising personal protective equipment to hospitals and the public.
