Warsito is optimistic that the PPKM posts at the village level would optimize four key functions: prevention, support, handling, and disseminating information.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) conducted another round of aid distribution in the form of new masks, soaps, and hand sanitizers to various public activity restrictions (PPKM) posts and communities in Medan, North Sumatra.

According to BNPB's official statement received here on Saturday, the assistance was in the form of 16 thousand pieces of masks.

As quoted from the statement, Head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Lieutenant General Ganip Warsito symbolically handed over the assistance entailing the provision of masks to the coordinator of the PPKM post in Medan Helvetia Sub-district, Medan City.

In addition to the 5,500 masks, Warsito handed over soaps as many as 144 boxes, with 72 pieces, which were witnessed by the residents. Furthermore, the aid would be managed and distributed by the local PPKM Post.

In conversation with the post coordinator, Warsito, concurrently the BNPB head, pressed to actively monitor residents, who were self-isolating, especially those with a history of comorbidity or over the age of 45.

He stressed that if self-isolation by residents did not support the recovery process, they should be immediately referred to a centralized isolation location for better handling of the health conditions.

"Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution has provided health workers, better shelters, and food," he noted.

He also handed over assistance to the communities in Medan area and Tuntungan sub-districts in Medan, North Sumatra.

In addition to handing over assistance, the Task Force head held a discussion with the post coordinator to obtain information on the activities and efforts being made, especially the role of PPKM posts to assist residents undergoing self-isolation.

By conducting these four functions, the PPKM posts are expected to serve as the vanguards in controlling COVID-19, especially for communities and villages.
