Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Investment/Coordinating Board of Investment (BKPM) and Finance Ministry inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to increase investment and national revenue as well as foster institutional strengthening.

The MoU was signed by Investment Minister/Head of BKPM Bahli Lahadalia and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani during the unveiling of the risk-based Online Single Submission (OSS) system by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) here on Monday.

Speaking at an online press conference after the launch event, Lahadalia elaborated that the MoU was a form of collaboration between the ministries to expedite business licensing and to ease the flow of investment into the country.

In addition to helping entrepreneurs, the objective was to ensure transparency while still promoting the interests of the business world that also aligned with the national interests, he said.

Concurrently, Mulyani affirmed that the group will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Investment/BKPM to raise investment.

"The Ministry of Investment/BKPM, along with the Ministry of Finance, will continue to review all policies in order to attract investment," she affirmed.

Mulyani also highlighted that the Ministry of Investment/BKPM will be strengthened institutionally, thereby resulting in an improvement in the service capabilities and the built system.

"We have delegated the authority for investment to Mr Bahlil, so that in this case, every decision-making capacity for boosting investment will be done under one roof or one system," she explicated.

Mulyani is optimistic that the centralization of authority will lend assurance for investment to flow in.

"Of course, with high availability of investment, we want economic recovery after COVID-19 to proceed well and strong, especially when it is backed by investment activity," she affirmed.

During the unveiling event, President Jokowi also aimed to raise Indonesia's ranking in the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Index. Related news: Indonesia`s ease of doing business index rises to 72
