Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics Minister's Special Staff for Human Resource Development, Dedy Permadi, on Friday underlined the need for developing human resources or digital talent in the era of digital transformation.

"We know that the world is moving very fast for digital transformation," he said at a press conference on 'Digital Talents Development for the Acceleration of Digital Economy Downstreaming' on Friday.

He cited a report from the World Economic Forum, which says that due to the rise of technology, it is estimated that by 2025, there will be 85 million job cuts, especially of repetitive jobs.

On the flip side, due to the development of technology, it is estimated that 97 jobs will emerge by the same year, he said.

Today, several positions have emerged due to the development of technology, for example, data scientists, big data specialists, and artificial intelligence specialists, he added.

"In response to this, the government needs to move quickly," he remarked.

In addition to developing digital talent, synergies with telecommunications infrastructure, digital governance, and the digital economy are also needed for digital transformation, he said.

Indonesia needs at least 9 million digital talents by 2030, he added.

According to head of the human resources research and development agency at the Communication and Information Ministry, Hary Budiarto, the program for producing digital talents will have three levels.

The most basic level will be digital literacy, which is essential to improve people's basic digital skills so that they are not easily influenced by negative content, he explained.

The digital literacy program will be realized through the Siberkreasi National Digital Literacy Movement, targeting millions of participants from the general public, he informed.

At the intermediate level, the ministry will offer a Digital Talent Scholarship program for students, the general public, professionals, teachers, vocational high school students, and state civil servants, which will be aimed at increasing participants' skills and competitiveness, especially at the technical level, he said.

At the advanced level, the ministry will provide leadership training at the Digital Leadership Academy training for state civil servants (ASN) and private sector players, which will take place from August to November this year with a limited quota of 300 participants, he added.
