Thus, he estimated the target number of residents with Jakarta ID cards who have not received vaccinations reaches around 2.6 million people.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta administration has set a target of vaccinating two million residents in 10 days because according to the data, the vaccinations can reach 260 thousand every day. "So, if 260 thousand people are vaccinated per day, then the two million vaccinated people in 10 days can be achieved. We do the vaccinations gradually until they are completed," Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan observed at the Student Sports Training Center (PPOP) here, Saturday.

He invited Jakarta residents to participate in the vaccination program because it can reduce the risk of severe symptoms and fatalities.

Even so, he asked the public to continue to implement health protocols. "This vaccination movement is now massive and hopefully it will be completed soon," he remarked.

Although the vaccination numbers in Jakarta for the first dose reached 8.86 million or 99.1 percent of the total target of 8.94 million residents, 40 percent of the recipients were not Jakarta residents or did not have Jakarta as their ID Card origin, he observed.

Meanwhile, the number of people who already received the second vaccine dose reached four million people or 44.8 percent of the target, he informed.

Based on data from the Jakarta Provincial Government uploaded by the website, Saturday, from the total target of 8.94 million for the first dose, 5.3 million had Jakarta ID cards, he said.

Thus, the target number of residents with Jakarta ID cards who have not received their vaccinations yet is around 2.6 million, he estimated.

The Jakarta Provincial Government raised the vaccination target to 11 million from 8.94 million. The addition was because residents who live in Jakarta might also come from several neighboring cities and provinces around the capital, the governor revealed.

On the national scale, 78.3 million Indonesians have received the COVID-19 vaccination as of August 11, 2021, out of the government's total target of 208 million, Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto has confirmed.

"The government will increase the vaccination target, from two million to 2.5 million injections per day," Hartarto affirmed earlier.

This is being done to achieve herd immunity while protecting the vulnerable groups, the minister noted.
