It is not yet perfect and has room for improvement. However, it is proven that we are capable
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The national health system was found to be more capable of stemming COVID-19 transmission currently, official from the Executive Office of the President (KSP) Brian Sri Prahastuti noted in KSP's press statement here, Tuesday.

Prahastuti highlighted that improvement in the capability of the national health system was apparent from the improvement in information on bed occupancy rate (BOR) and intensive care units (ICU) as well as the capability to monitor mobilization.

The improvement was also mirrored through the recruitment and utilization of health workers, procurement of medicines and health devices, as well as improvement in the information system, she remarked.

"It is not yet perfect and has room for improvement. However, it is proven that we are capable," Prahastuti asserted, adding that the country is also capable in global diplomacy to acquire vaccines in order to curb the infection rate and reduce the case fatality rate.

Prahastuti emphasized that bilateral and multilateral global negotiations were one of the approaches to acquiring the number of vaccines required to achieve herd immunity.

In addition, Indonesia had fought for equitable access to vaccines globally for poor countries through a multilateral agreement, she noted.

During the State of the Nation Address at the Annual Session of the MPR 2021 here on Monday, President Joko Widodo highlighted the dramatic increase in the capacity of the nation's health sector and was found to be capable of handling the high uncertainty induced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, the President explained that the government had conducted vaccine diplomacy and demonstrated to the world that Indonesia was actively participating in ensuring world peace based on independence and social justice.
