This toll road is a part and complement of Greater Jakarta’s metropolitan toll road as well as part of the Jakarta inner and outer ring roadJakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurates the 9.3-kilometer Kelapa Gading-Pulo Gebang toll road on Monday, as part of the six infrastructure projects of the Jakarta inner ring road.
“This toll road is a part and complement of Greater Jakarta’s metropolitan toll road as well as part of the Jakarta inner and outer ring road,” Jokowi stated during the inauguration at the Cakung toll road, Jakarta.
Jokowi is sanguine that the Kelapa Gading-Pulo Gebang toll road would improve the distribution of logistics, thereby boosting the activity and product competitiveness of the domestic economy.
The Kepala Gading-Pulo Gebang toll road will connect Tanjung Priok in North Jakarta to Marunda’s special economic zone (KEK) in North Jakarta.
The two areas are economic centers and strategic trade routes. Hence, with the new toll road, the mobility of public and goods will run smoothly, according to the president.
“Thus, it will help bolster our competitiveness and ensure smooth mobility of people and goods between Jakarta and the surroundings,” he stated.
Construction of the Kelapa Gading-Pulo Gebang toll road segment started on February 2017.
The Kelapa Gading-Pulo Gebang inner ring road, including Jakarta’s six other inner ring roads are the national strategic projects as stipulated in Presidential Regulation No.56 of 2018.
In total, the six toll roads stretch 69.77 kilometers by adopting the flyover construction integrated with the means of public transportation, the bus rapid transit (BRT).
The construction was conducted in stages: the first stage being 31.2 kilometers comprising 9.3 kilometers of Section A Kelapa Gading-Pulo Gebang, 9.5 kilometers of Section B Semanan-Grogol, and 12.4 kilometers of Section C Grogol-Kelapa Gading.
The investment value of the first stage of construction reaches Rp20.73 trillion, with joint operation of PT Jaya Konstruksi and PT Adhi Karya as the managing contractors.
Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan attended the inauguration along with Jokowi.
