The trial is expected to conclude on Tuesday (August 31, 2021).
"We have arranged four round-trip trial runs from the Yogyakarta Airport station to the Yogyakarta Tugu station," public relations manager of PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Supriyanto, said on Monday.
The airport train system has been under trial since Saturday (August 28, 2021), and is yet to be opened to the public, he added.
During the trial run, the airport train departed from Yogyakarta Tugu station at 5 a.m., 7:20 a.m., 10:55 a.m., and 2:22 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (UTC +7), only stopping at Wates station in Kulon Progo district, Yogyakarta, which has been prepared as a hub for passengers of Yogyakarta Express commuter train from Purworejo, Central Java, to take the airport train in the future, he informed.

Supriyanto confirmed the trial run went off smoothly, with no major issue recorded on the system. The travel time is at the expected time of 39 minutes, and the top speed could reach 100 kilometers per hour, he added.
The train operator is currently awaiting the green light from the Transportation Ministry to open the system to the public, he said.
"The latest information we received is to open the train system in September (2021), but we need to wait for the official decision to commence the operation," he added.
He confirmed the promotional price of Rp20 thousand (around US$1.4) for a single trip from Yogyakarta Tugu station to the airport station (and vice versa) would apply when the railway system is operational, with 15 daily round-trips planned for the initial months.
"Other regulations, such as travel conditions, are yet to be discussed. We will inform the public once the regulations become official," Supriyanto said.
As a train network bound on the local route, regulations requiring passengers to present vaccination certificates upon boarding and a limit of 50 percent on the maximum train capacity will apply for the Yogyakarta International Airport railway system, he added.
"We have prepared six trains set with maximum passenger capacity varied at 200 and 260 passengers. The train operator would certainly limit maximum passengers as the region is still under the activities restriction enforcement (PPKM)," Supriyanto informed.
