Sorong (ANTARA) - Telkomsel has completed 96 percent of the network infrastructure to welcome the National Sport Week (PON) XX in Papua, according to Telkomsel's acting General Manager for Network Service Assurance in Maluku and Papua, Muhammad Idham Kadir.

"In terms of power, transport, quality, and user experience, so far, everything has run well according to the plan that we had earlier set," Kadir noted in a press release on Wednesday.

In order to overcome the surge in traffic and communication requirements during PON, Telkomsel has added 41 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) and one permanent site devoted to optimizing the network at the Lukas Enembe Stadium.

"We will also mobilize 11 Compact Mobile BTS (COMBAT) to support services at various match venues," he noted.

In addition to optimizing the network infrastructure at four clusters -- Jayapura City, Sentani District, Mimika District, and Merauke District -- where the XX PON activities will be held, Telkomsel will optimize the network at several locations to welcome the XX PON Fire Carnival.

"In addition to the four clusters, we are also optimizing the network in Sorong, Biak, and Wamena as a precautionary measure against a surge in communication requirements," Kadhir emphasized.

As a precautionary measure against power outages, Telkomsel has prepared 24 fixed generators and 33 Mobile Power Supply Support (SCD) that are ready to provide electricity resources to prioritized BTS if the need arises.

"We also implement several programs to optimize the battery capacity in BTS, so that in the event of a power outage, BTS can still operate optimally for a certain period of time," Kadhir expounded.

"We have also alerted more than 80 resellers or credit counters within a one-kilometer radius of each XX PON venue to ensure that athletes, officials, and volunteers are able to easily access Telkomsel products," Haryadi stated.

Telkomsel has also prepared its permanent service booth called GraPARI to be available at five places spread across four clusters of PON XX: two locations in Jayapura City, one in Jayapura District precisely in Sentani, one in Merauke, and one in Timika. GraPARI is ready to help customers change cards, activate packages, and migrate to 4G cards.
