According to Uno, Papua Province is a tourist destination development priority, especially in terms of increasing the 3As, which are attractions, amenities and accessibility.
Therefore, the ministry, together with stakeholders, aim to support management capacity, as well as tourism and creative economy business players, through several programs, he added.
One of the programs aims to achieve community empowerment and promote Papuan tourism in all media owned by the ministry, he further added.
"This must be accomplished so Papua Province can be recognized and visited by foreign and domestic tourists, to improve the welfare of the people around tourist attractions," Uno stressed.

His team is committed to the success of the the PON National Games XX, through supportive events such as the Lake Sentani Festival, Cendrawasih Singing Music Concert, Numbai Creative Festival, and Noken Festival, he noted
Promoting the PON National Games XX is also being done through the ministry's owned and paid media, Uno pointed out, adding it will train human resources in the tourism and creative sector through the Kriya or handcraft/Applied Arts sub-sector and holding online English language online courses.
"I admit the conditions we are currently facing are not easy. We need active participation from all parties in the recovery of the tourism sector and the creative economy, including through the PON National Games XX," Uno affirmed.
Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Lt. General (ret) Marciano Norman also expressed his confidence that the PON National Games XX will be as successful as the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
“Your presence and contributions give us the encouragement that the PON National Games XX in Papua will run well just like the Tokyo Olympics," Norman said while opening the Chef de Mission (CdM) Meeting III, as quoted in a written statement received by Antara on Saturday.
The PON National Games XX in Papua will officially open on 2nd October, 2021.
