Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - Sixty COVID-19 patients have recovered from the infection in Palangka Raya, Mayor Fairid Naparin informed on Wednesday.

With the addition of 60 recoveries, the total COVID-19 recoveries in Palangka Raya have reached 10,965, or 86.69 percent of 12,648 active cases, he said.

Despite the positive news, the public must continue to follow the health protocols with a disciplined approach, the mayor said adding, the Palangka Raya COVID-19 Task Force has recorded 10 new COVID-19 cases.

According to the latest data, 1,189 or 9.40 percent of patients are still undergoing treatment in the city. Meanwhile, 494 people have died of COVID-19 in the city so far.

The data was collected from all parts of Palangka Raya city, including 30 villages within its jurisdiction. The increase recorded in the number of COVID-19 cases has been the result of the government's concern and commitment to conduct tracing and tracking activities, officials said.

The Palangka Raya city government, through the COVID-19 Task Force, has made efforts to stem the spread of COVID-19, ranging from disseminating information, conducting early detection, and ensuring security in the case-handling process, Naparin informed.

The city government has urged the public to follow the health protocols to minimize the potential risks of the pandemic, saying that the pandemic is unlikely to end anytime soon.

It has also imposed stricter micro-scale community activity restrictions to reinforce prevention and COVID-19 handling at a smaller scale.

According to Naparin, the enforcement of micro-scale community activity restrictions has been effective in prevention, early detection, and implementation of health protocols.

He stressed that his administration would continuously involve the public, down to the RT/RW level, in attempts to stem COVID-19.
