Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The availability of COVID-19 vaccines in Yogyakarta city has currently reached 114 thousand doses and is expected to support efforts to complete vaccinations by mid-October 2021, Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti has said.

“There are still around 125 thousand residents of Yogyakarta city who have not been vaccinated. And there have been directives from the central government to immediately complete the vaccination, especially since there are enough stocks," he informed here on Friday.

According to the mayor, there is sufficient vaccine stock to meet the need for the second vaccine dose.

“However, the central government has directed that there is no need to prepare a reserve stock for the second dose. The central government has guaranteed that the need for second dose vaccines will always be met if there is demand," he said.

Therefore, the directive benefits the Yogyakarta city government's plan to complete vaccinating all residents who are eligible to receive the vaccine, Suyuti informed.

Based on official data, the number of residents in Yogyakarta city aged 12 years and above is pegged at around 340 thousand, and 62 percent of them have been vaccinated, he noted.
