“There are still around 125 thousand residents of Yogyakarta city who have not been vaccinated. And there have been directives from the central government to immediately complete the vaccination, especially since there are enough stocks," he informed here on Friday.
According to the mayor, there is sufficient vaccine stock to meet the need for the second vaccine dose.
“However, the central government has directed that there is no need to prepare a reserve stock for the second dose. The central government has guaranteed that the need for second dose vaccines will always be met if there is demand," he said.
Therefore, the directive benefits the Yogyakarta city government's plan to complete vaccinating all residents who are eligible to receive the vaccine, Suyuti informed.
Based on official data, the number of residents in Yogyakarta city aged 12 years and above is pegged at around 340 thousand, and 62 percent of them have been vaccinated, he noted.

Efforts to accelerate vaccinations will be carried out by holding vaccinations directly in areas so that vaccines are closer and more accessible to people, the mayor informed.
In addition to focusing on completing vaccinations for the residents of Yogyakarta city, the local government is also providing vaccination services to all residents who do not hold Yogyakarta city ID cards, he said.

In a bid to boost immunity against the COVID-19 virus, the Indonesian government launched a nationwide vaccination program on January 13, 2021. President Joko Widodo was the first vaccine recipient under the program.
According to data from the Health Ministry, 71,667,777 people have received the first dose of the vaccine and 41,183,556 people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of September 10, 2021.
